The island of Elba is connected to the mainland by three shipping companies - Toremar, Moby Lines, Blu Navy - which operate daily trips between Piombino and Portoferraio (Toremar also to Rio Marina, Moby Lines also to Cavo).
The crossing to Portoferraio takes about 60 minutes. Toremar also operates some hydrofoil crossings (30') to Portoferraio, Cavo and Rio Marina.
